ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina signs on as Race Partner and host marina of the Brooklyn stopover
The newest marina to be built in New York City will be located in Brooklyn and it is one of the world's most sustainably built marinas as well! The finish of Leg 1 and start of Leg 2 will be just off the marina at the edge of the East River with stunning views of lower Manhattan!

Construction will be completed in the Winter of 2015, with a grand opening spring 2016. A joint venture between majority owner SUTL Group and Edgewater Resources, ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina offers unparalleled water access to the local Brooklyn community, New Yorkers, and boating enthusiasts from around the globe.This new marina will provide berthing for over 100 boats ranging in size from 16’ to 250’ in length, in what will be the calmest marina basin in New York Harbor. Through a network of local partners, a community boating program will provide free and low cost boating opportunities that include kayaking, fishing, and sailing programs. Engineered by the Edgewater Resources, the design team responsible for the world’s “greenest marina,” ONE°15 Brooklyn Marina will advance the state of the art in sustainable marina design.
As most of you know, the 2014 Atlantic Cup champion, Joe Harris has been sailing solo around the world in his Class40 Gryphon Solo 2, and he has just rounded Cape Horn which is widely considered to be the pinnacle for offshore sailors. A massive congratulations from all of us at the Atlantic Cup to Joe and if you'd like to wish him Congrats yourself - head to his Facebook page and send him a message. We hear that he is getting those messages all the way at 55 degrees south!
Portland's TeamPortland, Maine based #127 - Amhas will be a top team to watch in 2016. Amhas will be sailed by Rob Windsor, one of only two sailors to have competed in every edition of the Atlantic Cup and Brown University alum and Maine native, Micha Davis. The boat itself is fast and the crew is exceptionally motivated for a podium finish. As for the name, Amhas, it comes from an old Galeic word for Gannet, the sea bird that can be found around the North Atlantic.
The Spaniards#123 - Tales II - Skippered by Spaniards Gonzalo Botín and Pablo Santurde, Tales II is one of the teams to watch in the 2016 Atlantic Cup. The duo has 11 Trans-Atlantic crossings and what is considered to be one of the fastest boats in the Class40. Gonzalo and Pablo have already said they sail to win, but they've never sailed in U.S. waters.
Boston's Team#128 - Toothface II - Atlantic Cup veterans Mike Dreese and Tristan Mouligné are teaming up for the first time for the 2016 race. This will be the first time Mike has raced his new boat in the Atlantic Cup. Tristan is a veteran of two previous Atlantic Cups and a lot of Bermuda 1-2s. Tristan is one of the more experienced American short-handed sailors and has at least one big shiny trophy on his mantel piece. Toothface II has been through a season of professional tuning and will be among the fastest boats in the fleet.
America's Next Generation#118 - Oakcliff Sailing is dedicated to putting American sailors back on top of the international leaderboard. Oakcliff is actively looking for an individual to sponsor to sail with a talented Oakcliff athlete during the Atlantic Cup. Anyone interested should email Liz Shaw at training@oakcliffsailing.org
The New Guys#143 - Longbow is the newest boat in the fleet and considered to be the wild card for this year’s Atlantic Cup. The Day brothers (FK & Linc) are on the learning curve and will be looking for a solid performance in their first event.
The Battlers#54 - Dragon Ocean Racing is the only boat to have competed in every edition of the AtCup! She'll be skippered by Mike Hennessy and Owen-Clarke designer Merf Owen. Always a top contender you can be sure to see Mike & Merf fighting hard for the win.
The Quiet Performers#39 - Pleiad Racing returns for the 3rd time and will be skippered by Connecticut native Ed Cesare. His leg two co-skipper will be Chad Corning who Ed has sailed with in the prior two editions of the Atlantic Cup. In a very tight Leg 2 finish Bo Dream secured the win by a mere 4 minutes 59 seconds over Gryphon Solo 2. Photos HERE

The overall trophy went to Bodacious Dream with Lecoq Cuisine in second and Icarus in 3rd.
The 5th edition of the Atlantic Cup presented by 11th Hour Racing will start May 28, 2016 in Charleston, South Carolina. Teams of two will race 648nm from Charleston to Brooklyn. After a brief stop-over in Brooklyn, teams will race a second leg of 350nm to Portland, Maine where the race will culminate the weekend of June 11th in Portland with the third a final leg, an inshore series.
