1 Month Until The 2018 Atlantic Cup!

We're exactly one month from the 2018 Atlantic Cup Race Start!

AND we're delighted to announce the Holiday Inn as our Official Hotel Partner in Charleston and the 11th team vying for the Atlantic Cup #37 First Light! The longest offshore race in the Western Atlantic, designed just for Class40s is back for its 6th edition and it all gets started in just 30 days! #37 First Light is our 11th entry into what's shaping up to be our biggest fleet since 2012 - with the addition of skippers Sam Fitzgerald and Fred Strammer, the international fleet of Class40s will have sailors hailing from seven different countries! We are also pleased to announce another commercial partnership with the Holiday Inn Downtown Medical District in Charleston, South Carolina, who today become the Official Hotel Partner of the Atlantic Cup Charleston. Mark your calendars, vote for your favorite team and get ready for the toughest race in the U.S.A.! Welcome #37 First Light

While hull #37 is no new comer to the Atlantic Cup having won the very first edition of the race, we are pleased to welcome her back with a new crew of young, highly motivated and highly skilled sailors racing under the team name First Light! First Light will be raced by Sam Fitzgerald, a professional yacht designer and Fred Strammer, a former Olympic campaigner in the 49er class. This team could certainly out perform their rookie status! Their entry is backed by the USMMA Sailing Foundation and the young team are here to champion young sailors and create a clear pathway for them into the world of offshore yacht racing. To find out more about the team visit their team page here!

The Atlantic Cup is pleased to continue and build upon its partnership with the Warrior Sailing Program. A program of the USMMA Sailing Foundation, Warrior Sailing trains military service members and veterans with disabilities in the sport of sailing. Manuka SEM has had a long standing relationship with the Sailing Foundation and Warrior Sailing from foundation boats sailing in the Atlantic Cup, to vessel and shore support for the event. Likewise, the team at Manuka has provided coaching at the Warrior Sailing Training Camps and welcomed Warrior Sailing graduates on board to learn while assisting with boat deliveries and other initiatives. This year we are taking this relationship a step further by offering internships to Warrior Sailing graduates during the Atlantic Cup. From May through June there will be Warrior Sailors learning every aspect of the industry as the help execute the 2018 Atlantic Cup. We are pleased to work together to support these new sailors and hope you will join us in supporting warrior sailing as well. To learn more about Warrior Sailing check out WarriorSailing.org and please consider donating to show your support for this great program!
