Hi Charlie! I watched the entire Volvo Ocean Race last year and was amazed by the strategies all the navigators and skippers talked about. How does the tactics or strategy change between these two races or the different boat sizes? |
Hi Caroline,
Tactics and strategy in the VO65 are very much the same as they are in the Class 40 for the Atlantic Cup.
Class 40’s are box rule boats, not one design like the VO65, so there are some condition-based subtleties, but by-and-large you are trying to balance the weather and your competitors.
We always talk about what we would do in the “absence of other boats”…but they make decisions keeping those other boats in mind!
