Massive Class 40 Race To Set Sail From France Nov. 3

As a fan of the Atlantic Cup, we thought you’d like to know about the Transat Jacques Vabre, a major race on the Class 40 (the type of Atlantic Cup boats) calendar. The TJV is a 5,400 nautical mile race from Le Havre, France to Itajai, Brazil that starts Sunday, November 3rd. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the race and 25 Class40’s are competing including a number of past Atlantic Cup competitors. Below is information on how to follow this prestigious event.

The Class40 fleet is the biggest and most international to compete in this year’s event, the 11th edition of the Transat Jacques Vabre, the two handed race across the Atlantic from the French port to Itajaí, Brazil. The entire fleet is laden with talent and features several previous Atlantic Cup competitors.The Atlantic Cup’s presenting sponsor, 11th Hour Racing has entered a Team in the race. Former Atlantic Cup sailors Hannah Jenner & Rob Windsor will be racing as Team 11th Hour. Rob is the only American competing in this edition of the TJV and Hannah is just the 6th British woman to ever compete. Hannah also placed 3rd in the last edition of the race. Rob Windsor and Hannah Jenner, of team 11th Hour Racing, a team forged after the 2013 Atlantic Cup will be taking on their second race together as a team. Rob Windsor, the only American to be competing in this year’s Transat Jacques Vabre, has competed in the Atlantic Cup for all 3 years. In the 2011, Windsor co-skippered Dragonand landed 2nd place in the event. Hannah Jenner has competed in both the 2012 and 2013 Atlantic Cup onboard 40 Degrees. To ensure a place on the podium in the TJV, Hannah and Rob took their training to the next level incorporating cross-fit work-outs tailored to maximize sailing performance.
